About

In the early days of 2005, I decided to put my music on Myspace.  When it came time to set up a URL for the band’s page, I typed in the name I had been using for the past year or so:  The Live-Long Day.

So into the text box went “www.myspace.com/thelivelongday”, followed by a press of the Enter key.

After a short wait due to the really lousy wi-fi connection I was bumming from a neighbor, the same page came back with a message saying that the URL was already taken.  After a quick check, I found the culprit to be a punk band in Michigan.

I had been foiled.  The registration page awaited my next attempt.

I consider myself to be a creative person.  However, there are two areas in which I am a complete creative failure.  They are:

1) Deciding what to be for Halloween

2) Coming up with a name for anything, whether it be a song, a short story, a blog, or a band name.

It took me a long time to stumble upon The Live-Long Day.  It felt like a good fit.  At the least, it fit me better than that damn punk band in Michigan.

My mind drew a blank.  The registration page awaited my next attempt.

A couple years prior, I had decided that – if I were to ever start a record label – I wanted to call it Lambright Records.  The name was easy to come up with – it was the name of the street I was living on at that time.   Maybe that could be the band name as well, I thought. But it didn’t seem right.  Besides, Nashville already had a band with “lamb” as the first syllable in their name.

My current place was on 46th Ave South.  That wouldn’t make for a good band name, either.

So I thought of the street I lived on before Lambright.  It was where my parent’s lived – where I spent the majority of the first two decades of my life.

It was Paris Street.

So into the text box went “www.myspace.com/parisstreet”, followed by a press of the Enter key.

I had my Myspace page.  And I had my band name.
